Based within one of Belfast’s busiest industrial areas, Forty 8 Northern Business Park is host to a range of companies. From creative industries with high bandwidth requirements for uploading & sharing images, to leading mechanical and electrical engineering firms who need reliable connections to keep in contact with customers and engineers working remotely.

Challenge

Meeting the need for improved broadband services.

The Business Park offered an attractive location but operated with one drawback, broadband Internet services were not as good as many other locations. With more and more services being delivered over the cloud such as file access & telephony and increased demands for remote access, tenants needed better quality and faster services.

Solution

Working with a group of tenants and the 48 Norths Property Management team, Atlas fulfilled demand for greater digital connectivity by providing direct Fibre to the Premise broadband (FTTP) with the support of the government’s Gigabit Voucher Scheme.

Over several months of build works Atlas provided the anchor infrastructure to the Park and the distribution and delivery of fibre to the business units providing a future proof infrastructure to deliver services over the next 10 years

The Result

Through a joint investment from Atlas and Gigabit Voucher Scheme to support the infrastructure build, the Fibre to the Premise service supplied by Atlas under the scheme provides upload and download speeds several times faster than existing connections.

The new ultrafast broadband connections help to future proof these businesses, positioning them to take advantage of cloud based services including cloud telephony and cloud based data storage and provides 48 North with an attractive offering to new tenants wishing to locate.
